Presenting MedBioLitter at the Technical Committee on Marine Litter-CONAMA

On the occasion of the 15th National Congress on the Environment (Conama), 19 national and European projects tackling marine litter were invited to present their work at the webinar held on Wednesday 28 April 2021 to an audience of around 70 participants.

The Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community project and its open database and spatial geoportal, MedBioLitter, on current scientific knowledge related to marine litter and biodiversity interactions in the Mediterranean region, were presented by ETC-UMA colleague Antonio Sanchez.

The event offered the opportunity to discuss current developments concerning marine litter and provided an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange views and build on each other’s expertise.

It was our pleasure to take part in CONAMA 2020 and we would like to thank the whole team for this amazing initiative, to be followed by a publication on marine-related initiatives in Spain. Until then, you can find here the summary of projects discussed in preparation for the next session on 31 May. For further information, you can also refer to the Citizen Decalogue against marine litter.

Our next gathering around Mediterranean biodiversity and their interactions with marine litter will take place on 4 June 2021 during the EU Green Week. You can read all about it and register here.
